What "Employment" Means for You
When you are hired via CogentDeFi, you are not a "contractor" or a "freelancer". You are a full-time employee of CogentDeFi India Pvt Ltd (or our legal entity). This distinction is crucial for your financial security in India.
Form-16 & Payslips
You receive legitimate tax documents needed for loans, visas, and tax returns.
PF Accumulation
12% of your basic pay is saved monthly in your EPFO account for retirement.
Your Statutory Benefits
As a formal employee, you are entitled to benefits mandated by Indian labor laws. These are not optional perks; they are your rights.
Provident Fund (PF)
Both you and the employer contribute 12% of your Basic Salary into your PF account. This earns government-guaranteed interest and builds a tax-free retirement corpus.
Gratuity
If you work for 5+ years continuously, you receive a lump sum "Gratuity" payment upon exit. CogentDeFi accrues this liability monthly to ensure funds are available when you leave.
Paid Leave
You are entitled to paid leaves as per the Shops & Establishment Act of the state where you reside (typically 15-18 days minimum per year, plus public holidays).

Who is my legal employer?▼
CogentDeFi (or our local registered entity) is your legal employer on record. We sign your employment contract. However, you perform work for the foreign client who selected you.
Who pays my salary?▼
CogentDeFi processes and transfers your salary to your Indian bank account after deducting necessary taxes (TDS) and PF.
How do I access my PF account?▼
You can access your passbook and balance via the standard EPFO Member Portal using your UAN (Universal Account Number), which we generate and share with you.
Can I get a loan with this employment?▼
Yes. Since you receive standard payslips and Form-16 from a registered Indian company, banks recognize this as stable employment for home or personal loans.
Insurance Note
Beyond statutory benefits, your company may have opted for Group Health Insurance. Please check your specific offer letter or welcome kit for details on coverage limits.
